Today, August 18, is Vivien Leigh‘s day on Turner Classic Movies.  Among the films Robert Osborne is presenting is Fire Over England (see Rick’s Flicks; click on Vivien Leigh, then Film #5).  It is possible that her great beauty in this film  —  and her impeccable handling of historical costume  —  may have helped lead to her choice as Scarlett O’Hara.

Another gem in the program:  St. Martin’s Lane in which she portrays a London sidewalk busker.  Rex Harrison, Charles Laughton and Tyrone Guthrie(!) co-star, but SHE is the show.

NEXT REGULAR POST Friday August 21.
